How to crop a passport photo online
CropStudio’s Passport 35x45mm preset sets a portrait crop ratio and exports a 413×531-pixel image. Your photo is processed locally in your browser, without uploading it to CropStudio.
Check your passport authority’s requirements first. Photo dimensions, background, head position and file requirements vary. This preset does not check official compliance or guarantee acceptance.
1. Open your photo
Open the image cropper and choose your photo. Use a clear original with enough space around your head and shoulders; cropping cannot fix lighting, expressions or an unsuitable background.
2. Choose the passport preset
Under Size presets, select Passport 35x45mm. This enables Resize exported image and sets Width px to 413 and Height px to 531.
3. Frame your face
Move the crop selection and drag its handles to frame your photo. The preset keeps the portrait ratio; it does not identify your face or position it automatically. Compare your framing with your authority’s instructions before exporting.
4. Check output settings
Keep Resize exported image enabled and confirm 413×531 pixels. Leave Corner rounding at 0%. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP according to the file format your authority accepts. For JPG or WebP, adjust Quality if you need a smaller file.
5. Preview and download
Select Preview to inspect the result, then Download cropped image. Check the downloaded file’s dimensions, file size and appearance before submitting it. Exporting a small original at a larger size does not restore missing detail.
Pixels are not a print-size guarantee
The preset exports pixels; it does not set or verify print-resolution metadata. If you need a printed 35×45mm photo, specify that physical size in your printing settings and check the final print. Other passport authorities may require a different size entirely.
